TV Commercial Spots Sell Out - Indie Style!

"In the past, a song on a commercial made you a sell-out, but now because the cool indie rock bands are doing it, it's opened it up for everyone,"

The basic idea is, more tv advertisements are using actual pop/rock/whatever music off of pre-existing CD's by both mainstream and indie artists as opposed to using original music that's just a glorified jingle. They say it boosts familiarity, reaches younger audiences, and packs an emotional punch. It also does a solid for indie artists featured because they suddennly enjoy loads of popularity if the commercial does well. It also makes me hate ads just a little less.
I still find it amusing that Chris Milk, a TV commercial and music video director, said the quote above. However, his words about fearing to look like a sellout are greatly diminished, being that he said it from his industry's get-together in SOUTHERN FRANCE.
Posh enough, Milk?

And yet, still I wonder...
What it would take to get Lesbian Pirates a spot on an ad?

Yeah, and Peggy Lee's 'Fever'? Took me forever to be able to do that song again with out thinking about bad fastfood.
